MILAN HILL STATE PARK REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT
SEPTEMBER 2008 UPDATE
Since the last update, two more yurts have been constructed, the forest management operation is almost complete, and construction of the fourth yurt has begun. Remember the historic rains in August? Well, the SCA NH Conservation Crew worked right through it all, completing the third deck and yurt.
Forest Management will be completed at the end of September with its goals accomplished, including construction of new cross country ski trails in partnership with the Nansen Ski Club. The new trail system will provide a unique amenity to the community and the region. The Nansen Ski Club and volunteers have been busy following the loggers and spreading hay, and grass has already started growing!
Construction of the fourth yurt began on September 23rd and will be completed in approximately ten days. The view from yurt #4 may prove to be one of the best in the entire State Park system! The SCA NH Conservation Corps will refocus their efforts on rehabilitation of out houses and access trail development once the yurts are complete.
