The New Hampshire Division of Parks & Recreation is teaming up with Green Power Management to conduct a winter/severe weather test of the GUS vertical wind turbine. Installation of the 48 inch, 1,000 watt wind turbine is currently in progress. The test will be conducted at Mt Washington State Park on the walkway roof of the Sherman Adams Summit Building. Initial testing occurred in mid-December, and adjustments are being made to the system.
The test of the wind turbine will demonstrate exactly how the unit will perform in high winds and under icing conditions. If the unit can survive a winter on Mt Washington, then it will most likely be able to survive any other mountain top location in the world. Besides residential use - where a homeowner can supplement their grid electrical needs with self generation via wind power - the GUS wind turbine has a potential use at ski areas and other high elevation recreational areas which have high energy demands. Tangarie Alternative Power, the manufacturer of the Gus Wind Turbine, is represented in New England by Green Power Management, LLC Newmarket, NH. Tangarie Energy through Green Power Management is developing a New Hampshire industrial location in Pelham, NH to build the GUS wind turbines for New England.
